Job Description

Overview
  • We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our employees.

    Prepare and process monthly payroll for employees in compliance with Maltese employment law.
  • Collect, verify, and input employee timesheets and attendance records.
  • Monitor leave balances (sick leave, vacation, public holidays) according to Maltese law.
  • Calculate gross to net salaries, including overtime, commissions, bonuses, and statutory bonuses (e.g., COLA, statutory bonuses, weekly allowances).
  • Calculate and deduct FSS (Final Settlement System) tax, SSC (Social Security Contributions), and Maternity Fund contributions.
  • Ensure timely submission of monthly FS5 returns to the Commissioner for Revenue.
  • File and distribute FS3 and FS7 forms annually.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in salaries or roles.
  • Input and update payroll-related information in the system.
  • Generate and distribute monthly payslips to employees.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in payslip details.
  • Assist in preparing payroll reports for management and auditors.
  • Stay updated with changes in Maltese employment legislation and tax updates.
  • Respond to employee queries regarding payroll, deductions, and statutory benefits.
  • Coordinate with HR on payroll-related matters such as benefits, disciplinary deductions, or contract changes.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in payroll processing or a related field.

  • Knowledge with Maltese Labor Law

  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education and Experience
  • With at least Level 4 MQIC
